Hey guys, I know I have been really quiet for the last month or so. Just wanted to share a new post with a trip I went on back at the end of September. Promise I'll try to share more of what I've been doing with you all soon. And so, here goes the story of my trip to Göteborg.
One thing I learnt during this trip is that Swedish trains are completely different to the ones in England. You cannot buy a ticket on the train which resulted in me fast trying to navigate the website in Swedish on the trains shitty WiFi (albeit it was FREE- I know free WiFi on a train, I'm definitely not in England anymore). Two and a half hours later we made it to Göteborg. The last time I was in the city was my first day, even though it was only for a brief period as we jumped straight on the train to Karlstad.
Exploring the city, we saw so much it's hard to remember everything, which is why I'm so glad we took so many photos! Roaming around the city we saw so many wonderful things including delicious smelling street food, cute little gift shops, Göteborg cathedral and not to mention the beautiful Göteborg archipelago (a chain of islands).
Göteborg, being one of the larger cities in Sweden offers a host of different things including lovely coffee shops for Sweden's "Fika" which basically translates to coffee and a cake break- what a great idea! Anything involving cake and I'm down. The amount of Kanelbullar (cinnamon buns) I've eaten since moving here in August is quite amazing, but how can you turn it down when it's a Swedish tradition? Would be rude not to.

Some rather large Kanelbullar offered in a local coffee house.
The city itself proves to be quite spectacular, with some wonderful places to visit, including the botanical gardens, shops and the small streets and winding alleyways provide a sanctuary of wonderful local shops.
Visiting the Archipelago
Moving onto the Archipelago of Göthenburg, what a wonderful place to visit. Taking a small ferry, you can visit each of the islands for a few hours of the day and it is well worth the trip. The islands are a beautiful retreat and a stark contrast of the busy city in which we had just left. It seems hard to believe just half an hour before we had been in such a busy place, compared to the tranquil sights that the islands had to offer. Getting off at the Archipelago's largest island, Styrsö, is really a wonderful sight that no picture can do justice.
Thanks for reading,
